"Media is the message and the messanger". I think this qoute from Miss Representation, is so true. The media is giving women the wrong message that beauty is everything. We need to learn to stand up for ourselves. The media is a bully dont let it tell you what to do. Be your own person.
In media womens bodies are used to sell things. They are often the focus even if they are in a commercial selling hamburgers. "Advertising is ment to make you feel axious" like you wont look good or smell good without the product. In many advertisments womens faces are not even shown.
Proof that most times women's bodies are the focus is in the oscar song "We saw your boobs". Seth Mcfarland sang about many movies that famous actresses won awards for. Yet he focused on the fact that in the movies their breasts were exposed.
In the Carl's Junior commercial with Kate Upton the burger is hardly the focus. When did naked women become the focus of fast food commercials? Young girls are starving them selves to look like Americas hotties and the focus of these commercials is food. I think these commercials are kind of putting women in the same category as we put food. Showing them off like they are an object. Carl's junior has even used famous women in their ads. These women that are known for much more and have achieved a lot are narrowed down to where the commercial is only focusing on their physical and sexual beauty rather then their accomplishments.
I think women need to know and realize that beauty is not everything and they are beautiful the way they are.
